Indirect Tax Manager | Nederland

Position

The Benelux region has a separate tax team, working out of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Brussels. Within the team the position has become vacant for an Indirect Tax Manager. The Indirect Tax Manager will report to the Head of Tax Benelux. In this role the focus will primarily be advising on Indirect Tax (VAT and IPT) to the various business lines. This results in a diverse working and tax technical environment as each business line faces its own specific issues.  Given the integrated team, you may also be asked to contribute to and support the Benelux tax function on other taxes.

More specifically the tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Providing day to day expert assistance to the business on (cross-border) indirect tax matters (VAT and IPT);
  • Providing indirect tax guidance with respect to specific projects relating to re-structuring, mergers & acquisitions and similar projects;
  • Independently initiate and implement tax opportunities, and identify tax risks;
  • Enabling the business to comply with its indirect tax responsibilities under a tax control framework, including further developing the tax control framework and providing internal trainings to contribute to tax awareness in the organization;
  • Collaborate with the Dutch and Belgian Tax Authorities (ensure that consistent and accurate information is provided to the tax authorities, manage tax audits and obtain rulings etc.);
  • Be responsible for reviewing documents/legal contracts from an indirect tax perspective;
  • Coordinate annual pro rata calculations and review and responsible for VAT compliance and;
  • Provide support/advice on Insurance Premium Tax (IPT)
  • Work in alignment on all tax matters with Group Tax located in Munich and the relevant business stakeholders.

Candidate

  • Key requirements/experience and skills:
    • a degree in Tax Law or Tax Economics;
    • 7-9 years of experience with solid Indirect Tax knowledge, gained at a large international Tax advisory firm or in-house;
    • experience with using SAP is considered a plus, albeit not a must;
    • the ability to work under tight deadlines and independently;
    • flexibility and willingness to travel for work;
    • a strong team player (have to fit into interdisciplinary teams) and;
    • prior experience in the financial services industry or with other taxes are not a must but a plus.
