Global Indirect Tax Manager | Amsterdam

Position

The Rituals Cosmetics global tax department manages all tax affairs of the group and its worldwide subsidiaries located in Europe, the US and Asia. The tax department sets the tax strategy and at the same time focuses on compliancy, control, efficiency, and optimization of all taxes, including indirect tax.

At the global head office based in Amsterdam the position for a Global Indirect Tax Manager has arisen, who will be reporting into the Head of Tax. The Global Indirect Tax Manager will primarily advise and support the business worldwide on Value Added Tax (VAT) and other indirect tax matters. You will initiate projects to ensure that VAT rule changes are implemented, processes are optimized, while mitigating negative effects and capturing available tax benefits. You will also take care of VAT risk management, improving and further automating the VAT processes and documentation (VAT control framework), reviewing the VAT compliance and assisting the business.

More specifically the tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Provide VAT advise on all business projects and strategic initiatives;
  • Ensure that VAT rule changes impacting the business are implemented, incl. E-invoicing rules, SAF-T, Making Tax Digital etc.;
  • Collaborate with the finance team by ensuring appropriate data reviews and checks have been completed prior to the timely submission of VAT, Intrastat & ESL returns;
  • Advise on and executing a strategy for including and optimizing existing indirect tax processes in the IT/ERP systems;
  • Implement new IT solutions to increase level of efficiency, control and compliancy of the VAT process;
  • Implement a solid VAT Control Framework;
  • Increase effectiveness and efficiency, whilst ensuring that no errors are made in the VAT compliance processes;
  • Training financial controllers, the business and other tax specialists on VAT rules;
  • Pro-actively advise the company on how to mitigate indirect tax risks;
  • Manage VAT audits.

Candidate

The ideal candidate has at least 8+ years of experience, having started her/his career at a large international Tax advisory firm, followed by some in-house experience. As this will be the first VAT hire within Rituals where you will have the opportunity to build your own VAT department furthermore you need to have/are:

  • Knowledge of European VAT requirements;
  • A Master in tax;
  • Experience in using and optimising VAT reporting and analysis software;
  • Good communicator that loves to service colleagues with their VAT questions;
  • Proactive personality;
  • Ability to work in a dynamic organization, embracing change and working independently;
  • Knowledge of MS Dynamics and/or Coupa is a plus;
  • Strong English verbal and written language skills are required.
