VAT Manager | Amsterdam area
Position
For a European head office at a large multinational based in the Amsterdam area, we are looking for a VAT Manager. You will be part of a tax team that is responsible for the European tax position. The VAT Manager will report to the Senior VAT Manager and will be responsible for all VAT issues; the main focus is on managing VAT throughout EMEA region. Together with the members of the tax department you’ll be responsible for supporting the day to day business and you will be involved in digitalization and automation of the complex VAT streams within the company. You’ll be working with a variety of departments i.e. Finance, IT, Marketing, Sales etc.
The company has complex business models and supply chains of both goods and services. There are many projects that require VAT input making sure the VAT is properly dealt with.
More specifically the tasks will be:
- Provide VAT Advice to the business and different departments. Offer guidance to EMEA business units on VAT implications of their business models and transactions.
- Support e-Reporting. Help implement e-reporting and manage VAT issues across EMEA, including risk mitigation and data analysis.
- Support on VAT Automation. Translate business needs into VAT requirements for system improvements.
- Ensure Compliance: Participate in projects to ensure VAT compliance, especially when expanding into new markets or jurisdictions.
- Monitor VAT changes in the EMEA region and prepare responses to VAT inquiries and audits.
- Maintain relationships with external VAT advisors, tax authorities, and external advisors.
- Identify and track potential VAT issues using data analysis, and provide support to the VAT compliance team as needed.
Candidate
- Master’s degree in Fiscal Law, Fiscal Economics.
- Approximately 4-6 years’ experience in international VAT.
- Strong communication and analytical skills. Fluency in English is required; Dutch is a plus.
- Teamplayer, with a proactive mentality and a positive attitude.
- Interest or experience in VAT technology is a plus.
