VAT Compliance & Technology Specialist | Breda (Hybrid)

Position

At the global head office of PVM in Breda, a new position has arisen for a VAT Compliance & Technology Specialist who will report to the Manager Accounting & Financial Control and is part of the regional Shared Services Organization. The position connects with other members of the shared services in GL, AP, AR, Supply Chain, Logistics and Customer Services to provide support on indirect taxes and proactively identify and mitigate risks. The role will have the responsibility over both compliance as well as day to day advisory activities for more than 25 registrations in Europe, with an additional responsibility on improvement of the compliance process by way providing support with the SAP S/4HANA and tax engine implementations.

More specifically the main tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Responding to day to day queries from internal stakeholders, tax authorities and external parties relating to indirect taxes;
  • Proactively monitors and flags changes in legislation for discussion with the Corporate tax center of excellence and changes within SAP S/4HANA;
  • Works with ERP support teams and Corporate Tax center of excellence on projects and implementations;
  • Responding to rejected transactions flagged by SAP S/4HANA Tax engine and coordinating a resolution and mitigation of the transaction.;
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of all indirect tax returns for the entities in scope of the European Finance Shared Service Centre;
  • Liaison with the outsourced submission partner for indirect tax submissions in all European jurisdictions;
  • Managing compliance with requirements for Intrastat, statistical reporting and EU Sales list as required;
  • Digital submission of indirect tax data to government portals as required under local jurisdiction;
  • Performing monthly reconciliation of balance sheet positions in all entities related to indirect taxes;
  • Contact with relevant (Tax) authorities in case of information requests/audits together with Centre of Excellence Tax Manager;
  • Monitor status of payables and receivables with tax authorities relating to return submissions, penalties or fines.

The role is based in Breda, the Netherlands, with the possibility for hybrid working (2-3 days at the office / 3-2 days from home).

Candidate

The ideal candidate is adaptive and open to working in a complex matrixed and multinational environment, has an educational background in accounting and/or taxation, and has some 5-8 years of relevant experience with indirect tax processes. You have worked in an international advisory and/or in-house environment. You have experience with ERP systems and affinity with technology solutions. Fluency in English is required, other regional languages are considered a plus.

Furthermore you:

  • Have the ability to provide clear and concise explanations about tax related topics to non-tax professionals with different backgrounds;
  • Should be both a team-player and a self-starter who is able to set own direction and work independently around strict deadlines for closing and submission of returns;
  • Have excellent customer focus communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with various stakeholders;
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA with detailed knowledge for indirect tax area, masterdata, tax engine and code structure would be considered a plus;
  • Experience in use of e-invoicing or other digital platforms would be advantageous;
  • Systematic and methodical approach to handling high complexity and volume of work;
  • Passion for continuous improvement and able to challenge and improve current ways of working.
