VAT Compliance Manager | Breda
Position
At Ritchie Bros’ European head office located in Breda a new position has arisen for a VAT Compliance Manager, reporting to the Senior VAT Manager. The VAT Compliance Manager manages the work of the VAT Compliance Specialists and will ensure all VAT filings are done in a correctly and timely manner. Furthermore the VAT Compliance Manager is responsible for a variety of compliance process improvements and supports the implementation of automation solutions (e.g. Alteryx).
More specifically the main tasks and responsibilities include:
- Oversee, organize and lead the day-to-day operations of the VAT compliance team, ensuring that RB remains compliant;
- Manage the services of external VAT compliance consulting firms;
- Translate complex VAT technical advice into company wide processes, data flows and technology requirements;
- Propose VAT technology improvements and drive them to implementation and resolution;
- Providing cross departmental ad hoc VAT advise and identifying and mitigating tax risks from a VAT perspective;
- Handle tax inspections, from routine queries to complex situations;
- Collaborate with the Senior VAT Manager on strategies and technologies to improve the level of assurance in VAT compliance and efficiency of processes;
- Actively participating in cross functional projects from scoping through requirement gathering, to testing and deployment;
- Performs SOX control review, filing review, JE and payment review and approvals;
- Produce and give VAT trainings for other departments.
Candidate
The ideal candidate is an ambitious, hands-on and self-starting VAT professional with a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Tax or Accounting and at least 5 to 6 years of experience (more is welcome as well) in an international accounting firm or in-house and operational experience with filing of VAT, EU Sales listings and Intrastat returns.
Furthermore you have/are:
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced knowledge of Excel;
- Highly structured mind and organized, able to plan, present and document processes and situations;
- Able to understand complex technical VAT advice and connect the dots to compliance processes and systems;
- Able to define and frame the issues in a summarized fashion, understanding the essence, arriving to relevant conclusions;
- Fluent in English, other European language is considered a plus, especially Polish or German.
