VAT Automation Manager | Amsterdam Area

Position

At the headquarters in Amsterdam Area, the position of VAT Automation Manager EMEA has become available. The role reports to the VAT Director. The VAT Automation Manager collaborates closely with the IT department, the VAT and Finance team to further enhance, standardize, and automate key VAT processes across the region.

The role requires delivering creative, fit‑for‑purpose automation solutions within modern ERP environments and related tax technology platforms. Given the company’s rapid expansion, this position offers significant room for professional growth, including the opportunity to contribute to new market entries, process standardization, and broader tax planning initiatives.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Initiate and lead ad‑hoc projects to optimize, restructure, and automate internal VAT processes and procedures.
  • Maintain and update VAT tables and related system configurations.
  • Analyze and map VAT settings across multiple ERP systems for various business units.
  • Manage VAT automation initiatives while coordinating with IT, project managers, Group Tax, and Finance.
  • Stay current on relevant VAT legislation and implement necessary updates in systems and processes.
  • Resolve VAT‑related issues and ensure future‑proof, compliant solutions.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on VAT‑related system and process questions.
  • Maintain and automate VAT documentation for both existing and new supply chains.
  • Liaise with external advisors and tax authorities regarding automating VAT topics, such as e-invoicing.

Candidate

  • University degree in fiscal economics, tax law, or a similar discipline.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in international VAT practice, including VAT automation exposure.
  • Strong project management and planning skills, with a solid understanding of finance and VAT processes.
  • Ability to deliver push projects forward and connect with different stakeholders.
  • Experience with ERP systems (knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is an advantage).
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
