Tax Operations Performance Director | Amsterdam Area

Position

At the office in Amsterdam Area a new position of Tax Operations Performance Director has arisen. You will be part of the large global tax function consisting of approx. 250 tax professionals, reporting into the Global VP of Tax, located in Switzerland. The Tax Operations Performance Director will be leading a new additional pillar to the current tax organization and will have a major impact on how the tax process is organized. The Tax operations Performance Director will be the strategic and driving force in redesigning the process and leading a small team. He/she will be dealing with cross functional tax topics such as technology & automation, tax controversy & risk management, processes and compliancy. You will need to take a holistic perspective on the tax process and bring various groups and stakeholders together.

More specifically the tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Design, drive, and own the strategy and roadmap (in a collaborative manner) for continuous improvement, as well as visibility of the Global Tax operations;
  • Use of innovation, technology, continuous process optimization and strong project management to sustain and strengthen tax compliance, tax controls, transfer pricing, tax accounting & reporting as well as management of tax risks and cost-effectiveness of the function;
  • Advise and support the Global VP of Tax on the Tax Operating Model, particularly the (new) Tax Operations organization, including insourcing vs. outsourcing decisions, within the context of the Global Tax processes optimization;
  • Support the respective global leads for Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing, and Tax Accounting & Reporting and the Regional Tax Leads with identifying, monitoring, and implementing process and organizational improvements in their respective areas;
  • Lead the development of the Tax technology agenda and technology enhancements including but not limited to (improvement of) Tax master data accuracy and Tax reporting to support decision-making;
  • Develop and manage centralized/GBS operational Global Tax processes and teams including managing the Global reporting/Pillar 2 team in Poland;
  • Define, implement, and monitor metrics (KPIs) to target and measure tax function performance. Develop remediation plans to address performance gaps;
  • Manage the global tax outsourcing contract (currently with PwC) and leverage the centralization of this;
  • Lead development and improvement in terms of formal Global Tax communication (internal and external) with a focus on ensuring clarity, consistency as well as visibility of the function.

In this role you add value to the organization and your colleagues based on your skills in combination with your tax knowledge.

Furthermore you have:

  • Approximately 15+ years of experience working in advisory (Big4) combined with in-house within a very large multinational global organization;
  • A university degree in Tax Law, Tax Economics or equivalent;
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written;
  • Strong people- and project management skills;
  • Sound understanding of commercial operations, business models and reason of their implementation;
  • Willingness to travel abroad.
