Tax Manager | Amsterdam

Position

At the EU corporate Head Office the position has arisen for a Tax Associate. He/she will report to the Head of Tax The Netherlands. Together with the Head of Tax The Netherlands the tax associate will  be involved in all tax affairs in The Netherlands and a wide variety of tax issues of its subsidiaries in Europe. The focus is on corporate income tax planning (project management) and Transfer Pricing, but advising on VAT, Wage Tax issues are also part of the role. More specifically the tasks include:

  • Working closely together with the Head of Tax Netherlands and the business on all tax affairs (in particular corporate income tax, but also VAT, wage tax, withholding tax, transfer pricing, Fatca etc.)of all subsidiaries in Europe;
  • Being proactive in all mergers, acquisitions and restructurings in which EU group subsidiaries are involved. Providing ad-hoc tax support to organization-wide projects;
  • Active involvement in Transfer Pricing (more strategic TP, Interviews with the business, Economic analyses and benchmarking is outsourced);
  • Supporting interim and year-end tax accounting processes, ensuring alignment with group financial reporting;
  • Assisting with the delivery of direct and indirect tax compliance;
  • Playing an active role in tax audits, maintaining contact with the Tax Authorities and external advisors, and preparing and actively contributing to meetings with the Tax Authorities;
  • Rendering support in determining the tax position in the annual accounts;
  • Setting up, implementing and maintaining a Tax Control framework;
  • Continually assessing developments in national and international tax legislation and jurisprudence and translating these into opportunities and risks and keeping Tax knowledge up to date. Plus, proposing solutions and supporting the implementation of changes;
  • Developing and maintaining key relationships with the wider teams within the company and tax department to ensure the effectiveness of tax processes, data quality, and reporting across the business;
  • Liaising with the Dutch tax authorities on a regular basis.

Candidate

We’re looking for someone with an academic degree in tax law or fiscal economics, and with a strong knowledge of Dutch tax law and international regulations and roughly 3-5 years of experience. Attention to detail is key in this role, and you’ll have the ability to analyse and evaluate multiple sources of information effectively.

You’ll also need:

  • An analytical mindset with hands-on mentality
  • Fluency in Dutch and English The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a pressurized environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders.
