Multinational
Tax Manager | Amsterdam
Position
At its head office in Amsterdam, a position has become available for a Tax Manager, which is a stand‑alone role reporting directly to the Finance Director. Acting as in‑house tax expert, you will be responsible for all Dutch tax matters, while also supporting selected international projects in some other countries.
This role offers considerable autonomy and influence, providing the opportunity to shape and further develop the tax function, build processes, and proactively manage tax risks and opportunities in a growing, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. The Tax Manager will work closely with colleagues at the head office in Amsterdam (e.g. Finance, Legal, HR) and external advisors, as well as with Project Management in the Business Units. You will interact with the Business Units to keep informed on developments and create tax awareness, but also to actively provide tax support if and when required. The position covers a broad tax scope, with (for now) a primary focus on Dutch tax matters (95%).
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing proactive CIT and VAT planning and advisory support, such as assessing the tax implications of new business models, project structures, reorganisations, contract terms and financing arrangements;
- Identifying opportunities to optimise the corporate income tax position, including analysing fiscal facilities, investment incentives, loss utilisation, interest deduction limitations and group structuring;
- Advising the business on Dutch VAT consequences of operational activities (e.g. invoicing flows, joint ventures, construction projects, cross‑border services, permanent establishments);
- Managing and coordinating the Dutch CIT compliance process, including oversight of outsourced tax filings and ensuring accuracy of tax positions in the financial statements;
- Supporting M&A activities, including tax due diligence, transaction structuring and integration of acquired businesses;
- Advising on chain liability and liability related to the hiring of labour, including assessing contract structures and operational risks;
- Providing tax support on international projects, including reviewing local tax implications, permanent establishment exposure and coordinating with external advisors;
- Acting as the primary point of contact for the Dutch Tax Authorities, managing tax audits and maintaining a constructive relationship;
- Strengthening tax governance across the organisation, including internal controls, documentation standards and continuous process improvements;
- Acting as a sparring partner to the Finance Director and other senior stakeholders on tax risks, opportunities and structuring matters.
Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands‑on tax professional who thrives in an independent role and operates proactively in a fast‑moving environment. You combine strong technical expertise with pragmatic, problem‑solving mindset and are comfortable advising the business across a broad range of tax matters.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Dutch Tax Law or Tax Economics;
- 10–15 years of relevant experience, including in‑house experience within a medium‑sized or large organisation (must‑have), preferably in a project-based organisation;
- Experience with M&A, including tax due diligence and structuring;
- Fluent in Dutch;
- Self‑starter with strong organisational skills, able to balance operational tasks with strategic input.
