Global VAT Manager | Amsterdam
Position
At the Corporate head office in Amsterdam the position of Global VAT Manager has arisen. He or she will report to the Global VAT Director of Tax and will be part of the global tax team consisting of 8 tax professionals in Amsterdam and about 15 tax professionals in various international locations.
The Global VAT Manager will assist the Global VAT Director with setting up, implement and maintain the Value Added Tax (VAT) processes across the Arcadis group of companies worldwide. The Global VAT manager will work in close cooperation with Finance, Treasury, IT and Tax departments in the regions and on group level. The role is focused on VAT advisory and VAT management and managing the centralization of the VAT processes throughout the group. More specifically the tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with global indirect tax planning strategies, development and implementation of new strategies and centralizing VAT at the corporate head office in Amsterdam, to maximize indirect tax benefits consistent with prudent risks.
- Assist with the structuring of complex international projects from an indirect tax perspective.
- Assist with the simplification, standardization and centralization of global indirect tax activities.
- Assist with developing, improving, maintaining and ensuring compliance with the global tax control framework for indirect tax, including relevant policies, processes and testing thereof.
- Provide VAT advise to the group globally with technical excellence. Review and structuring legal agreements.
- Provide advise with respect to any customs and importation related topics.
- Ensure the integrity of IT systems (Oracle) for VAT purposes and support (mapping, support IT and finance), this requires profound working relations with the IT team and Arcadis.
- Assist -together with the Onshore Reporting & Accounting Director and the global VAT Director- the project aimed at outsourcing of global indirect tax returns.
- Maintain relationships with business units and departments to ensure timely communications regarding transactions that may have indirect tax consequences and planning opportunities. Communicating indirect tax recommendations to appropriate departments and implement planning ideas as required.
- Assist with the quarterly and full year reporting on (uncertain) indirect tax positions, in close cooperation with the Global VAT Director.
- Assist with VAT compliance from group entities, with a focus on the Netherlands.
- Build relationships with external advisors, tax authorities and internal stakeholders, in line with Arcadis’ tax principles.
Candidate
The ideal candidate has a master degree in Tax or fiscal Economics and approximately 5 – 7 years of experience in indirect tax with a focus on VAT. You have some years of experience as an in-house VAT manager or as a VAT manager at a large consultancy firm. You have a solid experience with VAT planning and setting up VAT processes within multinational organization(s). VAT technology (preferably Oracle) skills are an advantage.
You are creative, flexible, self-starting and self-confident. You drive for results, can make decisions and have the ability to convince stakeholders. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills including presentation and report writing skills with good collaboration and team skills. Appreciate to work in a dynamic environment. Fluent in English and Dutch.
