Global Employment Tax Manager | Amsterdam


At the Corporate head office in Amsterdam the new position of a Global Employment Tax Manager has arisen. He or she will report to the Global Employment Tax Director and will be part of the global tax team consisting of 7 tax professionals in Amsterdam and about 15 tax professionals in various international locations. The tasks and responsibilities will be mainly focused on managing all day-to-day employment & Global Mobility tax matters, mitigate (global) employment tax risks and provide technical support where necessary to business leaders, People teams and payroll teams globally. More specifically the tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide advice and support on complex employment tax issues.
  • Work closely together with the People Team to make sure Global Mobility policies remain tax compliant.
  • Proactively assess employment tax risks arising from cross-border/remote working arrangements and ensure accurate processing of earnings and benefits.
  • Take care of 30% ruling and A1/CoC applications.
  • Act as a sparring partner for Reward and payroll departments globally.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external tax vendors, driving accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the Global Employment Tax Director in further developing the Employment Tax Control
  • Framework, both in the Netherlands and in all other countries where Arcadis is present. Monitor key control testing.
  • Assist in preparing the annual Work-Related Expense Scheme (WKR) assessment.
  • Manage first and second line queries from employees, other teams, and external providers.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to deliver best in class advice.
  • Ensure alignment with the Global Tax Reporting Director with regards to quarterly and full year reporting on (uncertain) wage tax positions.
  • Support and work with other FLAT departments (Fiscal, Legal, Accounting and Treasury) to ensure a multidisciplinary approach.


The ideal candidate has a degree in Tax Law or Fiscal Economics and at least 3 years of experience in Dutch employment tax and Global Mobility topics in a large corporate (matrix) environment or advisory firm. Experience with risk management and M&A is desirable.

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to approach and solve difficult situations, combined with good analytical skills. Furthermore, you should have proven experience as a strong business partner with excellent understanding of client needs, in a global environment. Finally, knowledge of UK employment tax legislation would be an advantage.

Further required competencies and experiences:

  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, and preferably Power BI, to manipulate and analyse large amounts of data
  • A good understanding of monthly payroll processing
  • A good understanding of relevant personal taxation issues
  • A good understanding of the application of tax treaties
  • Self-starting, hands-on, organized and internally motivated
  • Able to take ownership of tasks and drive to completion
  • Strong team player
