VAT Process & Technology Analyst

At Cargill a position for a VAT Process & Technology Analyst has become vacant. You can work from one of the Cargill offices in the EMEA region. He or she reports to the EMEA Indirect Team Lead based in Amsterdam. The Global Tax & Customs function employs approximately 200 professionals globally. Of which sixty US tax professionals who work at the headquarter offices in Wayzata, Minnesota. Other tax professionals are located throughout the world with principal offices in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Winnipeg, London, Amsterdam and Singapore.
Cargill is on a global process redesign and ERP deployment journey. As part of this effort, Greenfield SAP implementations as well as roll outs and upgrades of existing SAP instances are initiated, both globally as in the EMEA region. They are leveraging technology to better understand, manage and control their tax risks.
The VAT Technology Analyst will be managing the VAT aspects of SAP implementations in the EMEA region, as well as advising on live SAP instances. The role consists of liaising and collaborating with local tax functions, IT, businesses and other functions. Furthermore the tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Designated VAT specialist for the EMEA region with respect to SAP implementations including the gathering of local VAT requirements, the initial design process, performing analysis, testing and training (40%);
- Build, maintain and govern processes surrounding VAT automation following newly incorporated SAP implementations or upgraded instances (30%);
- Partner with Global IT, Cargill’s businesses and functions to assess, monitor and govern processes via the use of technology, including performing process and system monitoring and engagement with the business to resolve/communicate (20%);
- Various other items, such as process improvement of existing SAP instances (10%).
This position is for fulltime or 0,8 FTE.
The ideal candidate has a (university)degree in tax and some 4-7 years of relevant experience in VAT, gained at a large tax consulting firm and/or in-house. You have excellent knowledge and understanding of VAT, also in a wider European context. The function requires a good understanding of VAT-determination logic in ERP systems (mainly SAP) and any corresponding VAT automation solutions such as invoicing and reporting.
Furthermore you are accurate, well organized and able to work on a standalone basis as VAT expert within an implementation team. You accelerate in team work but also work well on your own initiative. You are proactive, hands-on, pragmatic and you take ownership and can prioritize well. You have strong communication skills and the ability to work well in an international “virtual” team. Fluent in English.
